Project Description

Our Automatic Window Opener is a removable, easily attachable system designed to optimize indoor CO₂ levels and temperature, reducing reliance on HVAC or air conditioning systems while promoting sustainability through minimal electricity use and the use of reusable or recycled parts. It employs Model Predictive Control (MPC), a more efficient, optimization-based approach than traditional PID control, to maintain ideal environmental conditions. When temperature or CO₂ levels deviate from the set range, it automatically rotates the window handle to open it to an optimal angle. Once conditions stabilize near the desired levels, the handle closes the window hermetically. If conditions change again, the process repeats autonomously. The system can be easily removed and reinstalled on another window, making it highly versatile. This device could be particularly useful in hospital rooms, during hot summer nights, or for ensuring pets at home have access to fresh air.
